De eerste 10 jaar werd er gesprongen bij boer Nauta tussen het spoor van IJlst en Sneek.<br \/>\nIn 1986 werd, met dank aan Bobby Zwaagman sr., een mooie nieuwe locatie gevonden. Vlak bij het oude centrum en aan het water staan nu de W\ufffdtte Abma-sk\ufffdnsen.<\/p>\n<p>Ijlst is een bijzonder actieve vereniging. Zij organiseert op de eigen locatie veel belangrijke wedstrijden zoals Nederlandse Kampioenschappen en Tweekampen. Ook organiseert de vereniging jaarljiks de Frysl\ufffdn Cup. Dit is voor de Friese springers een laatste test voor het Nederlands Kampioenschap.<\/p>\n<p>IJlst is de thuisbasis van de, inmiddels met fierljep-pensioen gegane, Rimmer Abma, een van de meest bekende en succesvolle fierljeppers in Friesland.
